Templates in Plextrac
Plextrac looks for three separate types of templates when exporting your report. It looks for a Report Template, Export Template, and Finding's Layout. The only two required templates are the Report Template and the Export Template.
Export Template: The export template will contain the selected Self Serve template that you uploaded into your PlexTrac instance.
Report Template: The Report Template will contain all the Report Custom Narratives and Report Custom Fields utilized within a specific PlexTrac Report. Having this template setup correctly will allow you to have all the Report Custom Narratives and Report Custom Fields populated upon creation of the Report within PlexTrac.
Finding's Layout: The Finding's Layout will contain all the Finding Custom Fields utilized within a specific PlexTrac Report. Having this layout setup correctly will allow Findings to automatically have Custom Fields applied to Report Findings upon creation within PlexTrac.
When you go to export your report, Plextrac must find which Jinja template to export the report data to. This is linked through a chain of templates.
First, Plextrac looks at which Report Template is attached to the report you are trying to export from. Then, it looks at which Export Template is selected in the Report Template. The Export Template holds a single Jinja Template and this is the template Plextrac then exports to.
This means, to export to a Self Serve template, you will have to import the Jinja Template on the Export Template section in Plextrac, create a Report Template and attached the Export Template, and select the Report Template on the report you want to export from.
